As the saying goes, “there’s a first time for everything,” which is nothing short of true, as Saturday 16th March see’s a double debut within the walls of Carousel. Birmingham’s main man Subb-an steps into Carousel for the first time, gracing the sound-system and dance floor with not only his signature sound, but a world premiere live show too, configuring the club into a sonic space-ship flaunting a full light show for everyone in attendance. The world first is set to be one for the books, and keep people talking for many moons to come.
Living in a world with no shortage of disc-jockeys, there are few that impact and command a dance floor like Subb-an. Head honcho of the tasteful yet powerful ‘Sub Series’, Subb-an’s work in the studio is nothing short of impressive. The eagerness to generate music built from the ground up is a defining factor in his work, proved through releases such as ‘Conscious’ from the second edition of ‘Sub Series’. The track features fluttery synths flowing in and out, generating a dreamlike state for the listener before counteracting the tracks direction with a gnarly, acidic, growling bass-line. Subb-an’s ability to create a musical environment where the listener can dip their toes in multiple mind states is why his live show is a must attend, especially being a world premiere.
For such a special occasion it is imperative to have something to remember the night by, so we’ve partnered up with the lively lads in charge of ‘The MUDD Show’ to come down-under and ascend the mighty staircase to Carousel. With a name that resonates throughout the underground scene, their production’s are well-known amongst those 'in the know' and their consistently exceptional standards on display are a clear consequence of hard work and dedication. We look forward to welcoming them into our new home and watching the magic unfold.
Local support comes in the form of boss man Kerry Wallace, Melbourne's best French import - N.O.X - and the bad boy Dan Baartz.
