Since May 2011

The cornerstone of Sydney's underground house scene

The Origins

S.A.S.H was founded in May 2011, bringing the concept from Chapel Bar in London. It was created to fill a void in Sydney's nightlife left by the closure of 'Sounds on Sunday.'

What started as a niche Sunday afternoon gathering grew into a weekly institution that has defined Sydney's recovery-era nightlife for over 15 years.

The Name

Despite many theories, S.A.S.H officially stands for nothing—it was inspired by the TV show M*A*S*H during the naming process. Over time, fans have created backronyms like 'Sorry About Sundays, Honey' and 'Sunday Afternoon Sunday House.'

The Evolution

S.A.S.H became famous for its 'Day & Night' marathon format—S.A.S.H by Day at The Greenwood Hotel's open-air sandstone courtyard in North Sydney, followed by S.A.S.H by Night at Home Nightclub overlooking Darling Harbour.

In late 2025, S.A.S.H launched a new era with S.A.S.H Saturdays at Carousel Bar & Ballroom on Oxford Street—a cultural recalibration bringing our community energy into the heart of the weekend.

The Sound

We are strictly dedicated to house music—from deep and chuggy grooves to minimal and tech-house. Our commitment to sound quality is non-negotiable, with world-class Funktion-One systems at every event.

The Culture

S.A.S.H is known for a no-phones policy on the dance floor, a relaxed dress code, and a community that takes fancy dress seriously—especially at our legendary birthday parties each April.

Beyond Sydney

S.A.S.H has grown beyond Sydney with events in Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Bali, Ibiza, and London. S.A.S.H Records launched in 2020.
